The event will be 2-4 p.m. Oct. 5 at the TCHS Site and Museum, 201 W. Washington St. in Tonganoxie.

Guided tours will be available at 2:15 p.m. and 3 p.m. and refreshments will be provided.

One-room schools provided education for many students from the days of early statehood until the early 1960s. The site’s own Honey Valley School provides the backdrop for a new telling of the stories of education in the one-room schools of southern Leavenworth County.

TCHS also is showcasing its restoration and renovation activities during the past two years, including restored windows, new wood and glass storm windows, a new roof and interior and exterior paint.
