Funeral service for Edward Melvin Born Sr., 85, Eudora, were at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at Hackelman & Sons Funeral Home in Eldorado Springs, Mo. Inurnment was at Clintonville Cemetery, Eldorado Springs, Mo., with military honors.
He was born Nov. 5, 1922, in St. Paul, the son of Phillip and Mary Born.
As a World War II veteran, he served in the United States Army and later in the Korean War. He was discharged with honors. He was a farmer in Mulvane, Garnett and later in Lamar, Mo.
He married Theresa Ann Gehlen, on Jan. 8, 1948, in Colwich. She preceded him in death on March 19, 2006.
Survivors include four sons, Edward Melvin Jr. and wife, Ann, Monroe City, Mo., Ronald Joseph and his wife, Linda, Joplin, Mo., John David,and his wife, Cindy, Eudora, and Lynurd James, Eldorado Spring, Mo.; three daughters, Theresa Ann Bender, Liberal, Mo., Mary Lee Lang and husband, Bobby, Norfolk, Va., Annette Doris Wass, Eldorado Springs, Mo.; three brothers, Eugene and Francis, Eudora, and Ernest, Nampa, Idaho; five sisters, Regina Greenlee, Lawrence, Mary Ann Dulling, Girard, Betty Roberts, Erie, Clara Webb, Chanute, and Gertrude Hoffman, Chanute; and 28 grandchildren; 19 great grand children and 3 step great grand children. He was preceded in death by seven sibli and one step-grandson.
