Memorial services for Gary “Butch” K. Large Sr., 61, Linwood, were Wednesday at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs.
Mr. Large died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
He was born June 19, 1947, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Leo Harvel and Gladys Large. He was raised in Linwood and attended schools there.
Mr. Large was a member of the Laborers International Union Local 1290, where he was a pipe layer/superintendent. He was also certified as an explosive technician. He retired after working for 33 years.
He and wife received the Ovid Snider Award from the city of Linwood in 2004.
Survivors include his wife, Ellenor, of the home; a son, Gary Keith Jr. and wife Julie, Linwood; a sister-in-law, Shelley Moore, Overland Park; a granddaughter Julianne Hawkinson; a sister Nadine Gash; and four brothers, Frances, Charlie, Burl and Merle.
Mr. Large was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will received friends Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the American Lung Association, sent in care of the funeral home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs, KS 66012.

Bonner Springs — Memorial services for Gary “Butch” K. Large Sr., 61, Linwood, were Wednesday at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs.
