Gary Large

Memorial services for Gary “Butch” K. Large Sr., 61, Linwood, were Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs. A private burial ceremony will be at a later date.
Mr. Large died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008.
He was born June 19, 1947, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Leo Harvel and Gladys Large. He was raised in and attended schools in Linwood. Mr. Large retired after 33 years and was still a member of the Laborers’ International Union Local No. 1290 as a pipe layer/superintendent. He also was certified as an explosive technician. He and his wife received the Ovid Snider award from the City of Linwood in 2004.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Ellenor Large, of the home; a son, Gary Keith Large Jr., Linwood; a sister, Nadine Gash; four brothers, Frances, Charlie, Burl and Merle; and a granddaughter.
The family suggests memorials to the American Lung Association, sent in care of the funeral home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs, KS 66012.
