Dorothy Marks
Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy M. Marks, 93, Eudora, was Saturday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Burial was at St. Patrick Cemetery in Ogden.
Mrs. Marks died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 17, 1915, in Manhattan, Kan., the daughter of Willard Austin and Alice Mae Barry Moyer. She received a bachelor’s degree from Washburn University in 1962.
Mrs. Marks was a teacher. She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Alpha Delta Kappa sorority and Newcomers. She received a Master Teacher Award and Outstanding Teacher Award. She was a volunteer for Let’s Help, Cappers Children’s Foundation and Sacred Heart Grade School. She was also a poet, author and musician.
She married Vincent Paul Marks on Aug. 20, 1940, in Ogden. He died Feb. 23, 1979.
Mrs. Marks was also preceded in death by three brothers, a sister and a great-grandson, A.J.
Survivors include four daughters, Judith Engroff and husband Jim, Del Ray Beach, Fla., Janice Walthall and husband Richard, Lawrence, Susan Engroff and husband Jay, Phoenix, and Teresa Mabie and husband Tim, Olathe; a son, Willard Thomas Marks; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harry Moyer, Lawrence.
A rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, where the family will receive friends until 7 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to AJ’s Angels, Let’s Help, Heart of America Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice, sent in care of the mortuary.
