Bessie Nicholas

Graveside services for Bessie W. Nicholas, 91, Shawnee, were Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Nicholas died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at her home.
She was born July 24, 1917, on Bow Creek near Densmore, Kan., the daughter of Walter and Esther (Henry) Withington.
She married Wayne L. Nicholas and moved to Everton, Mo., and lived there until Oct. of 1941. She was a homemaker, mother and a member of the First Baptist Church of Shawnee. Mrs. Nicholas was also a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary of Wyandotte County.
Her husband, Wayne L. Nicholas, died Oct. 4, 1988. Two sons, Doyle Nicholas and Richard Nicholas, also died earlier.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Nicholas, of the home; two sons, Delbert Nicholas, Shawnee, and Ronnie Nicholas, Westphalia, Kan.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
