John Colgan

Services for John Patrick Colgan, 69, of Edwardsville, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Burial will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Mr. Colgan died Friday Oct. 3, 2008, surrounded by his family.
He was born Aug. 15, 1939, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Bernard and Eileen Colgan. While in the U.S. Army, he was stationed at Fort Ord in Monterey, Calif.
He retired after 34 years with the Wyandotte County Parks Department in 1998. He was the last volunteer fire chief for Delaware Township and the first for the city of Edwardsville.
Mr. Colgan was a member of CGMA, MO-KAN and CMM music ministries as a sound man.
In 1963, he married Sharon Perkins, and they lived their entire married life in Edwardsville. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Kenneth; a daughter, Buffie Colgan; a grandson; and a sister, Alice Neal.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to Shawnee Assembly of God Church, sent in care of the funeral home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs, KS 66012.
