Funeral Mass for Herbert “Herb” Franz Kump, 73, of Shawnee, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 24, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawnee. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Kansas City, Kan.
Mr. Kump died Monday April 20, 2009, at his home on after a long battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 27, 1936, in Grodetz-Gottschee, Yugoslavia, and emigrated in 1956 to the Kansas City area. He was self employed as a cabinet maker in the Turner and Mound City areas. He has been a lifelong member of the Catholic Church.
A son, Christopher Glen Kump, died earlier.
Survivors include his wife, Carol, of the home; five children, Lisa Ann Montgomery (Richard), Edwardsville; Anthony Allen Kump, Oak Grove, Mo., Patricia Sue McGeeney (Joe), Grain Valley, Mo., Leilani Lynne Wagner (Mike), Shawnee, and Dawn Marie Williams (Raymond), Kansas City, Kan.; two brothers, Eric Jacob, Osceola, Mo., and Herman Joseph, Kansas City, Kan.; 20 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 6 p.m.
