Merle Large
Memorial services fro Merle Leroy “Guy” Large of Kingston, Mo., will be at 5 pm. Friday at the Nazarene Church in Kingston. Burial will be in De Soto Cemetery at a later date. He died July, 31, 2009, of cancer.
Mr. Large was born Feb. 6, 1944, in Lenape to Leo Harvel and Gladys Rae Sedgwick Large. He spent is childhood in Leavenworth County before moving to De Soto, where he attended De Soto High School. He married Leota Rose Payton on May 13, 1961, at the Presbyterian Church in Olathe. They later divorced.
He retired as a drywall supervisor from Burgh, Dunham & Associates Construction Co., in Hamilton, Mo.
Mr. Large was preceded in death by brothers Charles Clements and Gary “Butch” Large. He is survived by two brothers, Burl Large, and Francis Clements, Garnett; sister Nadine Gash, Kentland, Ind.; two daughters, Martina Park, Overland Park, and Alicia McCleary and her husband, T.J., Linwood; son Justin Large, Linwood; four grandchildren, and Jackie and Grant Jones, who he raised at the home.
Alden-Harrington Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
