DeWayne Kerby

Services for DeWayne Kerby, 71, Bonner Springs, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs. Burial will be in Bonner Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Kerby died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.
He was born June 22, 1938, in Bonner Springs and lived his entire life in the house in which he was born.
Mr. Kerby worked for many years as a janitor at the Bonner Springs High School before retiring in 1996. He was the “football trainer” for the high school football teams for many years, as well as being active in supporting all of the high school sports programs.
He was a longstanding member of Bible Baptist Church in Bonner Springs.
Survivors include two brothers, Marlin, Bonner Springs, and Loren (Helen), Platte City, Mo.; two sisters, Shirley Mason and Charlene Kerby, both of Bonner Springs.
The family will receive friends at the visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the Bonner Springs High School athletic fund or Bible Baptist Church, sent in care of the funeral home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs, KS 66012.
