Harry Lewis
Leavenworth — Services for Harry J. Lewis, retired U. S. Army master sergeant, 86, of Leavenworth, were Sunday, Dec. 6, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs. Burial was at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Mr. Lewis died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
He was born July 27, 1923, in Kansas City, Mo., and was a lifelong area resident. He served for 20 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as a master sergeant after service in Europe and in the South Pacific. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star.
After leaving the military, he worked for several years as manager of Crown Drugstore and was also a supervisor for 20 years at A.A.R.P. Pharmacy. He was a member of the Basehor Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Leavenworth American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Dee Lewis, of the home; two daughters, Robin McDowell (Randy) Leavenworth, and Billie Murphy, Kansas City, Kan.; two granddaughters; and a great-grandson.
