Alfred Grammer

Funeral services for Alfred Orin Grammer, 77, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Grammer died Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 24, 1932, in Lone Star, the son of Walter and Ruby Rist Grammer.
Mr. Grammer was a heavy-equipment operator for many years for Anderson Trucking and Excavating, W.A. Dunbar & Sons Trucking, and LRM Industries. He was a member of Eagles Auxiliary No. 309. He was a bingo caller for many years, and loved fishing and time spent with family. He also enjoyed bowling, going to casinos and playing cards.
He married Evelyn M. Mark on June 24, 1951, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include four sons, Roger and wife Donna, Topeka, Tracy and wife Kelley, Tecumseh, Terry and wife Karen, Basehor, and Steven and wife Rebecca, Baldwin City; a daughter, Linda Wiggins and husband Roger, Lawrence; three sisters, Beulah Anderson and Wilma Stone, both of Lawrence, and Shirley Harris, McLouth; three brothers, Wesley, Darrell and Gerald, all of Lawrence; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Howard and Wilford, and a sister, Phyllis Wood.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, or the American Diabetes Association, in care of the funeral home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS 66044.
