Elva McCoy

A celebration of life for Elva M. Gurley McCoy, 92, Baldwin City, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ives Chapel Methodist Church. Burial will be held in the Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. McCoy died Sunday, July 19, 2009, at the Baldwin Healthcare Facility.
She was born Sept. 12, 1916, in Beebe, Okla., the daughter of MaryAnn McCloud and Archie Beller.
Mrs. McCoy grew up in Ada, Okla., and attended grade school at Wilson Elementary School. She and her husband, Euel, moved to Baldwin City in 1955, where they managed Registered Hereford Cattle. She also did housekeeping at Baker University and baby-sat. Mrs. McCoy enjoyed quilting, sewing, embroidery, ironing and cooking. She attended Ives Chapel in Baldwin City.
She married Euel “Sam” Gurley on Feb. 26, 1931, in Ada. He preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 1976.
She later married Mac McCoy in 1980. He preceded her in death in 1984.
Survivors include two sons, Sam Gurley and wife Alice, Baldwin City, and Bill Gurley and wife Sandy, Lawrence; a daughter, Loeata Stanley, Tulsa, Okla.; two brothers, Delroy Beller and wife Dorothy, and Gene and his wife, all of Ada; eight grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a son, Ray and wife Margaret, in 2006; a brother, Ostel Beller; and a sister, Lorene Coffey.
Friends may call from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Baldwin City.
