McLouth — Services for Mary Kimmel Bower, 86, McLouth, were Saturday, July 25, at First Baptist Church, McLouth. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Oskaloosa.
Mrs. Bower died Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Feb. 9, 1923, the daughter of Allen and Inze Mary Worwsick Lacy.
Mrs. Bower was an elementary school teacher for Ozawkie, Valley Falls and Wellman school districts. She also cared for 86 foster children in her home.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, McLouth.
Her first husband, John W. Kimmel, died in 1987. In 1989, she married John D. Bower; he survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, J.R. Kimmel, Kansas City, Kan.; three daughters, Patty Kimmel and Judy Kimmel-Miller, both of Lawrence, and Ruth Edmonds, McLouth; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
