Ruby Channel
Services for Ruby Margarette Channel, 98, Platte City, Mo., were Saturday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Reno Cemetery.
Mrs. Channel died Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at North Kansas City Hospital.
She was born Jan. 4, 1911, in White City, Iowa, the daughter of John and Mildred Silvey.
Mrs. Channel was a homemaker, a farmer and also worked for Hercules Powder Co. during World War II and later for Kansas University. In retirement she enjoyed painting, travel, music and her family.
She married Roy Barber Channel on Oct. 17, 1930, in Mexico, Mo. He died Feb. 20, 1955.
She also was preceded in death by three sons, Teddy Raymond, William James and John Lee; and a granddaughter, Terri Lynn Post.
Survivors include a son, Roy B. Channel Jr., Lawrence; a daughter, Bonnie Hannah, Platte City, Mo.; a brother, Paul Silvey, Chicago; a sister, Mildred Pryor, Eudora; eight grandchildren, Steven, Polly and Karen Channel, Richard, John “Barney” and David Hannah, Debra Barta, Yvonne Palenmo and Diane Charmain; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-great-grandchild.
