Raymond Rawie

Services for Raymond Earl Rawie, 82, Shawnee, were Tuesday, May 12, at Shawnee Presbyterian Church. Burial was at Johnson County Memorial Gardens in Overland Park.
Mr. Rawie died Thursday, May 7, 2009, surrounded by his family.
He was born Sept. 5, 1926, in Stanley, the son of Homer and Ellen Rawie.
Mr. Rawie was a funeral coach salesman for more than 50 years, working for Southwest Professional Vehicles. He sold many cars to funeral homes in a four-state area and received numerous sales awards during his career.
From the early 1950s to the early 1960s, he also operated Ray’s O.K. Service previously at Shawnee Mission Parkway (Kansas Highway 10) and Nieman Road. During that time he raced dirt track cars and sponsored and coached a Shawnee Optimist youth baseball team.
Mr. Rawie was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion and VFW. He was also a 60-year member of the Stanley Masonic Lodge and a charter member of the Shawnee Presbyterian Church.
His wife of 59 years, Dorothy, died in 2008.
Survivors include his children, Mark and Kathy Rawie, Lenexa, Vicki and Ron Collins, Fort Worth, Texas, Steve and Abbie Rawie, Shawnee, and Joe Rawie and Michelle Harris, De Soto; a brother, Noel and wife Carolyn, Surprise, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Amos Family Funeral Home, Shawnee, was in charge of arrangements.
