Services for Edward C. Klempnauer Jr., 79, Shawnee, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at Community Covenant Church, 15700 W. 87th St. Parkway, Lenexa. Burial will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Klempnauer died, Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at his home.
He was born Sept. 27, 1930, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Edward C. Sr. and Olive G. Klempnauer. He graduated from Argentine High School and Kansas City Kansas Community College. He spent summers at his grandparent’s farm in Grain Valley, Mo., helping milk cows.
He retired from Black & Veatch after 43 years, his last position being mechanical drafting supervisor. He served 20 years in the Kansas National Guard.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Wilma I. Klempnauer; three daughters, Elaine Cuppy, Shawnee, Diane Clinesmith and her husband, Mike, Overland Park, and Gale Howard and her husband, Bryan, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and brother, Phillip Klempnauer, Henderson, Nev.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. The family suggests memorials to Community Covenant Church or Hospice Care of Kansas, 15329 W. 95th St., Lenexa, KS 66219.
