Marvin Willenburg
Graveside services for Marvin M. Willenburg, 84, Westwood, were Monday, Oct. 5, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lawrence.
Mr. Willenburg died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
He was born on April 29, 1925, in Bemidji, Minn., the son of Joseph and Minnie (Schaake) Willenburg. He and his family soon they moved to Lawrence, where he was raised. At age 17 he joined the Merchant Marines and served his country for 27 years.
Mr. Willenburg had worked at Belger Cartage Service as night watchman.
He married Goldie A. Thompson on June 13, 1989. She died in 2005.
Survivors include a sister, Lillian and husband Carl Engelbrecht, of Illinois; and a brother, Warren, of Texas.
Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs, handled arrangements.
