Edward Patterson

Kansas City, Mo. — Services for Edward Burkett Patterson Jr., 63, Kansas City, Mo., were Wednesday Sept. 2, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home with a jazz procession to Leavenworth National Cemetery, where he was buried.
Mr. Patterson died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, surrounded by his family at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 11, 1946, in Mobile, Ala., the son of Edward B. and Edwina (Everidge) Patterson.
Mr. Patterson was raised as a Baptist. He attended Theodore High School in Mobile and graduated in 1966 from Bonner Springs High School.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, serving during the TET offensive. He was the owner-operator of Southern Sign Company, specializing in custom sign manufacturing with Jazz Louisiana Kitchen as one of his premier clients.
Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Kimberly, of the home; two sisters, Shirley (Jack) Morris, Kansas City, Kan., and Sandra Stalec, Olathe; a brother, Jay, Leawood; and his babies, Petie, Polly and Poopie. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, sent in care of the funeral home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs, KS 66012.
