Velora Dougherty

A private graveside service was Saturday for Velora Deal “Babe” Dougherty, 95. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery. Mrs. Dougherty died July 27, 2010.
She was born March 16, 1915, to Delbert Deal and Anna Mae Bien. She grew up in LeLoup, where she attended grade school. She graduated from Ottawa High School.
She married John H. Dougherty on Feb. 10, 1934, in Garnett. He preceded her in death in 2000.
Mrs. Dougherty was a housewife and a member of Tauy Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Bob Dougherty and his wife Doris, Independence, Mo., and Max Dougherty, Lawrence; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister, Helen Conzales, and a brother, Elmer Deal.
