David Rickman
David Maurice Rickman, 73, of Basehor, Kan., passed away Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family. Memorial services were Dec. 16 at Basehor United Methodist Church, with a private committal planned for a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the Basehor United Methodist Church or to Crossroads Hospice and mailed to Alden-Harrington Funeral Home.
David was born Aug. 4, 1937, in Kansas City, Kan., and was a longtime area resident, moving to Basehor in 1978. He started working as a switchman with the Rock Island Railroad and enjoyed a career of more than 42 years in the railroad industry, retiring in 1999. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the Wyandotte #3 Masonic Blue Lodge. David was a fan of all sports, especially at Kansas University, and he was an avid golfer. He was a member of Basehor United Methodist Church.
David is survived by his wife of 53 years, Virginia Rickman, of the home; one daughter, Cheryl McDevitt (Kevin), Basehor; two grandchildren, Courtney and Brandon; and one great-granddaughter, Emma. (Arr. Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, (913) 422-4074)
