Lois Flory
Funeral services for Lois Mae Kinzie Flory, 85, rural Baldwin City, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Pleasant Grove.
Mrs. Flory died Sunday, Feb 7, 2010, at the Baldwin Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born July 21, 1924, in Sawyer, the daughter of Elso and Alice Blickenstaff Kinzie. She attended schools in Sawyer.
She and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm, and were involved in several farm organizations. During their retirement years, they lived in Florida in the winter months. Mrs. Flory was a homemaker, and will be remembered as kind, peaceful and hospitable.
She married George Wayne Flory on April 18, 1945, in Sawyer. He died Nov. 28, 2004.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Ray, Russell and John, a sister Ethel, a brother-in-law Harold Flory, and a nephew, Eldon Flory.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Flory, Baldwin City; four sons and three daughter-in-laws, Stanley and Donna, Paul and Sheri, all of rural Baldwin City, and Mike and Cheryl, and Steve, of Lawrence; five grandchildren, Jason Flory, Gretchen Trendel, Trent Flory, Tara Pearson and Jason Mathia; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to the Lois Flory Memorial Fund for the Baldwin Healthcare and Rehab staff, sent in care of the funeral home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS 66044.
