John Green
Services for Dr. John Douglas Green, 85, of Shawnee, were Friday, May 28, at Prairie Baptist Church, Prairie Village.
Dr. Green died Sunday, May 23, at his home.
He was born May 19, 1925, in Merkel, Texas, the son of Donald and Ora Green. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II from 1943-1946, earning four Bronze Stars and the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon.
Following his service, he attended Baylor Medical College, graduating in 1952. For 46 years, he practiced medicine in Cushing, Okla., and Louisville, Ky.
Dr. Green was a member of Prairie Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Molly T. Marshall, Shawnee; three children, John Douglas Green Jr., Farmington, Mo., Gary A. Green, Sand Springs, Okla., and Janis Green Thomas, Bartlesville, Okla.; two sisters, Dialtha White, Houston, and Doris Freeman, Abilene, Texas; and two brothers, Edward Green, Argyle, Texas, and Morgan Green, Abilene.
The family suggests memorials to Central Baptist Theological Seminary, 6601 Monticello Road, Shawnee, KS 66226-3513.
