Cynthia DeMaranville

A Celebration of Life Visitation for Cynthia “Cindy” J. DeMaranville, 60, of Michigan City, Ind., will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs. Private burial will be in Mt. Sidney Cemetery in Linwood.
Miss DeMaranville died Friday June 25, 2010, at her sister’s home in Bonner Springs while surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born July 2, 1949, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Don and Joyce (Coleman) DeMaranville.
Miss Demaranville was retired from Bethlehem Steel, Burns Harbor Division, where she worked 32 years as a steel coil crane operator. She had attended clown school and enjoyed being a professional clown under the name “Confetti.” One of her passions was boating on Lake Michigan, and she even lived on her boat at one time.
Survivors include her mother, Joyce DeMaranville, Linwood; four sisters, Sandy (Jerry Williams) DeMaranville, Linwood, Cathy (Tom) Pitts, De Soto, Jeanne (Lee) Rieke, Kennesaw, Ga., and Donna (Tom) Kelly, Bonner Springs; her “adopted sister” and best friend, Janet Stefano, Michigan City, Ind.; and beloved pets, rabbit “Tink” and dog “Betsy.”
The family suggests memorials to Greg Mortenson’s Central Asia Institute School for Girls, sent in care of the funeral home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs, KS 66012.
