Edwin Bedell
Funeral services for Edwin V. Bedell, 92, of Shawnee, were held Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at The Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, with interment at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens.
Mr. Bedell died Feb. 24, 2010, at the Gables in Overland Park. He was born Dec. 23, 1917, the only child of Charles V. and Vira L. Bedell. He was born and raised in Rockville Centre, N.Y., worked for Bushy & Sons in the Brooklyn Ship yards as an electrician, was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy as a Carpenter’s Mate 2c. Edwin served in the Sea Bees in World War II, stationed in the Philippines. He retired from Moses R. Cornwell, a fuel and oil company owned by his Grand Uncle. Edwin was a Lifetime member of the Lenexa Masonic Lodge No. 135.
Mr. Bedell was preceded in death by LaVerne Bedell, his wife of 64 years, and a granddaughter, Jennifer Bedell. He is survived by his only son, William Bedell and wife Linda, grandson Jason Bedell and his wife Heather, granddaughter Sara Bedell and great-grandson Finley Bedell.
The family suggests contributions in Edwin’s memory to Heartland Hospice or the American Diabetes Association.
