Alvin Barrett
Graveside services for Alvin James Barrett, 93, Baldwin City, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Gardner Cemetery. Mr. Barrett died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at his home.
He was born March 5, 1916, in Lincoln, Kan., the son of James and Celia Breir Barrett. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1933.
Mr. Barrett was a farmer, sold real estate and was a trustee for Palmyra Township until retiring five years ago.
He married Lou Brand on Oct. 2, 1998, in Baldwin City. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, James Barrett and his wife, Marilyn, Wellsville; two daughters, Carol Lauber and her husband, John, Topeka, and Linda Barrett, California; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Betty Blakely, and his first wife, Edith.
Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Baldwin City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Church of Christ on High Street, Baldwin City, or the Women’s Transition Center, Lawrence, and sent in care of the funeral home at P.O.
