Larry McCord
Memorial services for Larry C. “Turtle” McCord, 69, Kansas City, Kan., will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Burial of cremated remains will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. McCord died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at Bonner Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Nov. 13, 1941, in Bethel, the son of Walter and Aubrey Mae McCord. He was known as “Turtle” at the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, from which he retired after 30-plus years. He was in the U.S. Army Airborne Division during the Korean War.
Survivors include two sons, Lawrence Wayne (Teresa) McCord and Jason (Sonja) McCord, both of Kansas City, Kan.; a brother, Charles (Barbara) McCord, Bonner Springs; three sisters, Betty (Jack) Rehm, Bonner Springs, Shirley (Chuck) Merz, Horton, and Donna (Val) Pfannenstiel, Mission; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Bikers for Babies, Juvenile Diabetes or the Humane Society sent in care of the funeral home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs, KS 66012.
