William Whipple
Services for William L. “Bill” Whipple, 70, Basehor, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 17, at First Baptist Church of Basehor. Burial will be in Bonner Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Whipple died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Merriam.
He was born April 8, 1940, in Plad, Mo., and had moved to this area in 1958. He had worked for 42 years at Certain-Teed Insulation in Fairfax as a forklift operator, retiring in 2002.
His first wife, Ruth Whipple, died in 1996; his second wife, Gayle Whipple, died in 2007.
Survivors include two sons, Chuck (Laura) Whipple, Bonner Springs, and Martin (Sheri) Whipple, Olathe; a daughter, Malissa Haley, of Pittsburg, Mo.; four brothers, Fred, Henry, Leonard and Harvey Whipple; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or to First Baptist Church of Basehor, sent in care of the funeral home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs, KS 66012.
