Dwight Dussair

Services for the Rev. Dwight E. Dussair, 95, Lenexa, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Grace United Methodist Church, Olathe.
Rev. Dussair passed away April 12, 2011, at Lakeview Village, Lenexa.
He was born May 20, 1915, in LuRay, Kan.
Rev. Dussair faithfully served the United Methodist Church as pastor for 53 years.
He attended Coffeyville Junior College and graduated from Tulsa University with an engineering degree. He then graduated from Northwestern University’s Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary with a Bachelor of Divinity degree. He attended Harvard School of Chaplains upon entering the military service in 1943.
He served in World War II with the 25th Infantry Division in the Philippines Campaign, receiving a bronze star. He spent six months with the occupational forces in Japan.
Churches he served in Kansas were in Marysville, Garnett, Parsons, Olathe, Topeka and Leavenworth. Upon retirement, he served 14 years as associate pastor of First Methodist Church in Bella Vista, Ark. Retiring again, he moved to Lakeview Village in Lenexa, KS.
He served on the Kansas Governors’ Advisory Committee for Institutions and was chaplain for the Kansas House of Representatives.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Merceda Dussair, Lenexa; a son, David Dussair, Overland Park; two daughters, Denise Larson, Topeka, and Deborah Simone Wright, Lenexa; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., prior to the services, at the church.
The family suggests memorials to either Grace United Methodist Church, Olathe, Lakeview Village, Lenexa, or Hospice Care of Kansas, sent in care of Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs, KS 66012.
