Berthold Hucke

Berthold Rudolf Hucke “Bert” passed away on August 19, 2019 at his home in Largo Florida at the age of 85 with his loving wife by his side. He was born on February 26. 1934 in Berlin, Germany. At the age of 18 he emigrated to Edmonton Alberta Canada where he worked on the Al¬Can Highway, in the lumber camps and as a painter. There, in 1954, He met Mercedes Pardo. They were married in Caracas, Venezuela on August 11, 1956. In 1964 they moved to Kansas city, Missouri where he worked as a machinist and sheet metal worker. He enjoyed spending time at their cabin at Beaver lake in Arkansas with his wife and grandchildren.
He lived in Tonganoxie Kansas from 1974, enjoyed his acreage there until he retired and moved to Clearwater Beach, Florida in 1999 and in 2010 moved to Largo Florida. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mercedes, of the home; one daughter, Wilma Calovich (John) Chapman, Ks; one son , Wolfgang Hucke ( John), Philadelphia, Pa., 5 grand children, 12 great-grandchildren, brother in law, Carlos H. Pardo (Ana), and Daniel A. Pardo (Ken) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Hermann Hucke, his mother, Helene Weiss, brother, Wolfgang Hucke, brother in law, Nelson Pardo and grandson, John Stephen Calovich, Jr. (Jace).
A Mass celebrating his life will be held 11 am Friday October 11, 2019 at Quisenberry Funeral Home, in Tonganoxie, KS. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 am with a rosary being said at 10:30. Bert will be greatly missed but never forgotten. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
