Gilmore wins gold Friday at Junction City for Tonganoxie High track

Eli Gilmore won the 800 and the 1,600 at Friday’s Junction City Invitational for the Tonganoxie High boys track team.

He won the 800 with a time of 2 minutes, 2.66 seconds and the 1,600 in 4:39.76.

Isaiah Holthaus won Tonganoxie’s lone silver on the boys side. He finished second in the 300 meter hurdles with 43.53 seconds. Holthaus also placed third in long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 4 inches.

The 4×100 relay team placed third, as did the 4×800 relay team. The 4×100 team finished the race in 45.78 seconds, while the 4×800 had a time of 9:12.13.

The 4×400 team nabbed fourth with 3:37.6.

Ethan Butler placed fifth in the high jump with a height of 5 feet, 4 inches, as did Todd Brown in the 100 (11.12 seconds). Conner Cole nabbed sixth in the discus (112-11) and Owen Schmidt seventh in the triple jump (39-6). Jett Gilmore also placed seventh in the 3,200 (11:39.34), while Michael Bottary placed ninth (11:39.63).

Kendall Smith placed eighth in the 200 (23.27). TJ Leeper took eighth in the shot put (41-7.5).

Other placings were Alex Stevens (12th, 11.48) and Tanner Hand (15th, 11.72) in the 100, Tanner Hand (13th, 24.27) and Hunter Nihart (14th, 24.52) in the 200 and Gavin Shupe (13th, 2:29.31) and Huston Albert (14th, 2:41.17) in the 800. In the 1,600, Solomon Carter placed 12th (5:27.41) and Huston Albert 14th (6:00.54).

In the long jump, Ethan Butler placed 18th (16-10.5). He also placed 12th in the triple jump (37-8).

In the discus, Gavin Rhoads placed 14th (91-7) and Tucker McGuire 18th (79-9) and in the javelin, TJ Leeper also placed 12th (108-0) and Logan Schmidt 13th (104-7). And in the shot put, others competing were Gavin Rhoads (17th, 34-11) and Conner Cole (12th, 31-2).

Lucy Rieke takes 3rd in shot; Booker, Smoots take 4th in javelin, triple jump

Lucy Rieke led Tonganoxie with a third-place finish in the shot put. She threw the shot 34 feet, 3.25 inches.

Addison Booker took fourth in the javelin (103-9), as did Mikinzi Smoots in the triple jump (31-4).

Shiah Lindsey nabbed fifth in the 100 hurdles (18.17), while Kara Johnson took sixth in the 800 (2:46.66). Others placing sixth were the 4×100 relay team (55.35) and Finley Rieke in the high jump (4-8). Rieke also placed seventh in the triple jump (30-2). Rieke finished ninth in the discus (93-7), while Kara Johnson placed eighth in the 400 (1:12.13).

Other performances for THS were Khrisalyn Wright (13th, 13.79), Keagan Merry (14th, 13.96) and Caroline Keene (18th, 14.41) in the 100. In the 200, Keagan Murray placed 16th (29.57) and Caroline Keene 19th (30.47). Kinnley Hoffhines took 11th in the 800 (2:52.99) and 12th in the 1,600 (6:32.98). Shiah Lindsey finished 11th in the 300 hurdles (58.8) and Finley Rieke 12th (14-3) and Khrisaslyn Wright 14th (12-8.5) in the long jump.

Tonganoxie is at the Bobcat Relays on Friday at Basehor-Linwood and then has the Tonganoxie Invitational on Wednesday, April 12. The Bobcat Relays start at 3:30 p.m., as does the Tonganoxie Invitational.
