Tonganoxie track at Frontier League meet Thursday
Tonganoxie High track teams will have a final meet before the postseason this week.
THS will compete at the Frontier League Meet on Thursday at Liston Stadium in Baldwin City.
After the league meet will be regionals the following week.
The Chieftains will compete in a Class 4A regional May 19 at Shawnee Mission North.
Field events will start at 1 p.m., with prelims set to begin at 3 p.m. and finals at 5:30 p.m.
Teams assigned to the regional along with THS are Atchison, Baldwin, Eudora, Holton, Louisburg, Bishop Miege, Hayden and Wamego.
Other 4A regional sites are Buhler, Chanute and Towanda-Circle.
Buhler regional teams are Abilene, Buhler, Chapman, Clay Center, Hugoton, McPherson, Pratt, Rock Creek and Ulysses.
The Chanute regional field is Labette County, Chanute, Coffeyville, Fort Scott, Independence, Iola, Ottawa, Paola and Parsons.
Competing at Towanda-Circle are Andale, Augusta, Clearwater, El Dorado, Mulvane, Rose Hill, Towanda-Circle, Wellington and Winfield.
The Buhler regional will start at 2 p.m. May 18, while the Towanda-Circle regional will start at 3 p.m. May 18. The Chanute Regional will start at 3:30 p.m. May 19.
The Top 4 finishers in each regional will qualify for the state championships May 26-27 at Wichita State’s Cessna Stadium. All classes will compete at the stadium, which has been home to one of the biggest meets in the country for decades.
