Bishop Miege wins 4A state volleyball crown once again; Louisburg 4th
Bishop Miege has won three of the last four Class 4A state volleyball titles.
Miege won the 4A crown with a 23-18 record, but the only 4A team to defeat Miege in the regular season was Tonganoxie.
In the rematch, the Stags defeated Tonganoxie in the semifinals of a 4A substate in Chanute and blocked the Chieftains from the chance at a second straight state berth.
The Stags, whose schedule primarily consists of 5A and 6A foes, does actually have some 4A opponents on their slate before the postseason. Miege did lose to a 4A school in its pool play opener, but then won their remaining matches on the team’s way to another state title.
Miege lost to Clearwater, 25-21, 25-18, but then defeated Eudora in two (25-19, 25-12) and Andale (25-20, 25-20) in pool play. Miege then defeated Louisburg in the semifinals (25-10, 25-17) and McPherson in the championship (25-14, 25-12).
