Tonganoxie High boys soccer finishing up regular season next week

Tonganoxie High boys soccer has just a few more matches left before the postseason starts later this month.

The Chieftains were 2-3-1 in Frontier League play and 5-7-1 overall entering play this week. Tonganoxie lost to perennial power Bishop Miege (9-4) by a 3-0 score Oct. 3. THS bounced back for a 1-0 victory against Louisburg (3-10) on Thursday and then battled Kansas City Christian on Saturday morning in a match originally scheduled for earlier in the season.

KCC won that match, 2-0, at Johnson County Community College. The Panthers currently are the top seed in the Class 4-3-2-1A East Bracket at 10-0-1.

Tonganoxie is the No. 10 seed as of Wednesday. The Chieftains played Basehor-Linwood on Tuesday and won, 4-1. THS improved to 6-7-1, while Basehor-Linwood fell to 2-12.

THS is on the road Thursday at Paola (0-13) and then home Tuesday against Seaman (5-6-1) in the regular season finale.
