Tonganoxie High cross country boys take 2nd, grirls 4th at league meet
Tonganoxie High cross country has six all-league runners this year. THS competed Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023, at the Frontier League meet. Tonganoxie High boys cross country finished as Frontier League runner-up, while the girls squad placed fourth Thursday at the league meet.
Solomon Carter led all THS runners on the boys side with a third-place finish, while Kara Johnson was the top THS girls runner in seventh place.
Overall, THS had six all-league runners. Runners finishing 1-7 are first-team selections, while those 8-14 are second team and 15-21 are honorable mention.
First-team selections were Carter for the boys and Johnson for the girls.
Second team was Parker Welsh, who placed 10th and honorable mention were Jett Gilmore (15th) and Michael Bottary (17th).
Kinnley Hoffhines was the other second-team selection, as she placed 14th on the girls side.
Tonganoxie teams now will turn their attention to Class 4A regionals at Johnson County Community College.
The girls race will be 10:15 a.m. and 10:50 a.m. Oct. 21 on the JCCC campus.
Other teams assigned to the regional are Atchison, Baldwin, Eudora, Holton, Louisburg, Ottawa, Bishop Miege and Wamego.
