Tonganoxie High School, home of the Chieftains

The Tonganoxie High boys golf team took fourth place at the Sunflower Tourney last week.

The course was in great shape and the wind was blowing. The team finished behind champion Basehor-Linwood, runner up Spring Hill and third-place De Soto.

Tonganoxie was five shots out of second place and 12 from first place, so the Chieftains compete in a pretty closely contested invitational.

The team was paced by Colton Brusven with an 80. He placed fourth individually.

The other counting scores were Lachlan McRae (83), Josiah Weatherford (89) and Gavin Reischman (93). Other participants were Aiden Van Middlesworth and Zac Fisher.

On Monday the team competed in the Mill Valley Invitational at Oakwood Country Club.

THS played the 18-hole invitational in rainy conditions against primarily 6A and 5A schools and finished 12th.

Fisher led the field with an 83 in his best round of the year, while Brusven shot an 85. Also shooting a personal best this year was Aiden Van Middlesworth with 88. The other counting score was 95 shot by Lachlan McRae and Gavin Reischman.

Wesley Johnson made his varsity debut in the tourney with a solid 102.

The varsity next will be in action this coming Monday in Manhattan. The JV squad competed Tuesday at the Jeff West Tourney after The Mirror’s print deadline.
