Tonganoxie High boys golfers get plenty of experience with multiple meets last week
Tonganoxie High boys golf has tackled a busy schedule.
In the first tourney last week, the junior varsity squad played on a windy day and took second behind Mill Valley. The team was led by Cameron Wensel (95), Carson Heffel (98) and William Dohrn (99). The other players were Jaxon Smith, Cade Allen and Thatcher Page.
It marked the first 18-hole tourney for many of the golfers.
The second tourney was in Osawatomie. THS coach Doug Sandburg took a mixture of JV and varsity golfers to what turned out to be another windy tournament. The team was led by Aiden Van Middlesworth (86). Other counting scores were Wesley Williams (101), Jaxon Smith (101) and Josiah Weatherford (105). The other participants were Mark Geiger and Emmett Crookham.
On Friday, squad played a tough course in Wamego and in tough conditions at Falcon Lakes on Monday.
The boys took sixth at Wamego and were seven shots away from third. This put the Chieftains in fourth in our regional and outside of getting to state, so the team knows where it stacks up as it marches toward regionals.
The Chieftains were led by Colton Brusven (84) and Zac Fisher (86). The team shot a 356.
The team then competed on Monday at Falcon Lakes. It was a very windy day and the team shot 364 and took ninth. The team was led by Colton Brusven (81) and Zac Fisher (90). All golfers finished in the 90s or lower for THS.
Next up is Thursday at Sycamore Ridge.
Regionals are May 13 at Clay Center.
