By Shawn F. Linenberger - | Apr 24, 2024

Tonganoxie High baseball coach Mitch Loomis chats with his team Friday, March 29, 2024, after his squad lost, 3-0, to Blue Valley Southwest at the Leavenworth County Fairgrounds.

Tonganoxie High baseball is scheduled to play in the Butch Foster Baseball Tournament later this week, though inclement weather could put a wrench in those plans.

Forecasts call for rain every day starting today and heading into next week.

THS and Piper are set to play at noon Thursday at Creekside Ballpark in Parkville, Mo.

The winner takes on Bonner Springs at 4 p.m. Thursday.

In other first-round games, Paola and Shawnee Mission Northwest meet at noon Thursday, with Hays and Basehor-Linwood to play at 2 p.m. The winners of those games are to play at 4 p.m. The championship game is noon Friday as of now.

Consolation games are to be played Thursday and Friday as well. Tonganoxie is 6-11 on the season heading into the tourney. The squad won April 16 at Bonner Springs, 12-1, but then lost Friday at Seamsn in Topeka, 4-2.

The Chieftains play again after the tournament April 30 at Ottawa.
