Tonganoxie wrestling teams take down Bonner Springs in dual openers
Tonganoxie High wrestling teams earned a sweep in the season opener Wednesday at Chieftain Arena.
The THS girls won, 60-24, against Bonner Springs, while the Tonganoxie boys defeated Bonner, 58-21.
The Chieftains didn’t disappoint on their home mat under the spotlight. The THS girls, ranked No. 1 in Class 4A, took care of a Bonner squad that’s ranked No. 6 in 5A. The THS boys are No. 4 in 4A, while the Bonner boys are unranked.
The THS boys team is at Gardner-Edgerton on Saturday for the first meet of the season, while the girls team has its first invitational at Spring Hill.
