Tonganoxie wins dual against Blue Valley, 44-32

Tonganoxie boys wrestling moved to 2-0 in dual competition Thursday with a 44-32 victory against Blue Valley.

The Chieftains, ranked No. 3 in Class 4A, outlasted the Tigers on Tonganoxie’s home mat at Chieftain Arena. THS is off for a week. Its next competition will be 5 p.m. Dec. 19 at Santa Fe Trail where THS will have duals against SFT and Ottawa.

Tonganoxie finishes out the 2024 portion of the season Dec. 21 at home with the Randy Starcher Memorial Invitational.

The Chieftains have six wrestlers currently ranked in the latest Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association rankings. Freshman Hunter Pankey is No. 5 at 106, as is junior Brodie Starcher at 113, while sophomore Tyler Chrisp is No. 4 at 120.

Junior Brady Martin is the top-ranked wrestler in 4A at 157. Senior Cael Dye comes in at No. 5 at 190, while Gavin Rhoads is No. 4 at 285.
