Tonganoxie High boys track 4th at Frontier League meet; teams back at Eudora on Thursday for regionals

Tonganoxie High track

The Tonganoxie High boys track relay teams helped lead the squad to a fourth-place overall finish this past Thursday at the Frontier League meet in Eudora.

The 4×400 and 4×800 teams placed first, while the 4×100 team took second. The 4×400 performance marked the team’s best time so far this season at 3 minutes, 27.62 seconds.

Todd Brown also placed first in the 200 and second in the 100, while Solomon Carter placed second in the 800 with a season-best time of 1:58.79. In addition, Michael Bottary placed fourth and Gavin Shupe fifth in the 800.

Isaiah Holthaus won second in the 110 hurdles and third in the 300 hurdles. His 300 time was a season best (43.00).

Other top placers were Owen Schmidt with third in the triple jump and fourth in the long jump and Tucker McGuire with a second-place finish in the discus.

On the girls side, Adalyn Schooler won the high jump with a 5-2 leap, while Kara Johnson took silver in the 3,200 meters. Schooler also placed third in the discus.

Spring Hill swept both the boys and girls team titles.

Next up for Tonganoxie is a Class 4A regional, which also will be at Eudora. Field events start at 3:45 p.m. Thursday at Eudora District Stadium. Prelims get started at 5 p.m., with finals to start 30 minutes after prelims conclude. Other teams at the regional are Atchison, Baldwin, Eudora, Fort Scott, Ottawa, Paola and Bishop Miege.
