Tonganoxie High boys win triangular in season opener
The Tonganoxie High boys cross country team won its first competition of the season Saturday in Leavenworth on the University of Saint Mary campus.
THS won the triangular with 14 points. Leavenworth placed second with 18 and Lansing third with 21.
Parker Welsh won the individual title with a time of 16 minutes, 48.91 seconds. Solomon Carter placed second (16:54.54) and Jett Gilmore third (18:00.26). Piercen Eccles placed seventh (18:47) and Huston Albert ninth (19:07.59) for Tonganoxie as the team’s Top 5.
Aston Sander placed 18th (23:07.85), Westyn Reischman 20th (24:10.82), Chamberlain Albert 22nd (24:50.32), Brayden Fugate 24th (25:08.76) and Taylor Maslak 27th (26:27.8).
Saturday’s field had 30 runners on the boys side.
The THS girls placed second in their race.
Lansing won convincingly with 26 points. THS had 53 and Leavenworth 56.
Kara Johnson led Tonganoxie runners with a second-place finish and a 21:05.12 time.
Brooke Nihart was THS’ next top finisher in ninth with a time of 23:29.78.
Gracelyn Barnett placed 14th (24:50.48), Autumn Wilson 16th (25:01.46) and Kate Wilson18th (23:36.21). Other THS runners were Dayton Shoenhofer (19th, 25:36.66), Taylor LIebeno (20th, 25:38.71), Elena Edholm (23rd, 25:55.88), Kylee Cobb (26th, 26:31.99), Rowin Pruitt (29th, 27:14.47), Macie Murray (30th, 27:18.73), Harlee Morando (31st, 27:22.55), Chloe Hendrickson (32nd, 27:44.9); Kayla Thornton (33rd, 27:46), Johanna Boone (37th, 28:26.18), Emma Knetter (38th, 28:36. 19), Mary Graveman (40th, 30:24.47), Emerson Maslak (42nd, 30:46.49), Kate Carter (43rd, 31:02.75), Brooklyn Rich (45th, 32:05.03), Allison Bailey (46th, 32:43.57) and Kayleigh Williamson (47th, 39:38.87).
There were 47 runners competing on the girls side.
Tonganoxie next will be in action Saturday at the Wamego Invitational.
