Tonganoxie High wrestling teams head Thursday to Pittsburg for duals
Tonganoxie High boys and girls wrestling teams will have their next duals Thursday at Pittsburg.
Matches are set to start at 5 p.m. Thursday.
Both teams will look to go to 2-0 in duals with Thursday’s clash with the Purple Dragons.
The THS girls won their first dual in program history last week against Bonner Springs. The THS boys handily defeated BSHS after the girls’ victory.
The Tonganoxie boys team placed fourth Saturday at Gardner-Edgerton Invitational. THS was the highest-finishing Kansas team, as the big-time tourney also drew teams from Texas, Oklahoma and Iowa.
The THS girls finished third at the Bronco Invitational at Spring Hill.
The Tonganoxie boys will be back home Wednesday, Dec. 14, for a double dual against Ottawa and Santa Fe Trail. Matches start at 5 p.m.
Though the boys don’t have a tournament this weekend, the THS girls will compete in a tournament Friday at Santa Fe Trail. It starts at 4 p.m. and other teams there are Rossville, Osage City, Wellsville, Shawnee Heights, Perry-Lecompton, West Franklin, Silver Lake, Burlingame, Anderson County, Iola, Wamego, Ottawa, Sabetha, Holton and Osawatomie.
The girls also are back home for a double dual starting at 5 p.m. next Wednesday against Ottawa and Santa Fe Trail.
The boys finish out the 2022 portion of the season Dec. 17 with the Randy Starcher Memorial Tournament. The girls will be at a tourney at Basehor-Linwood that day. Both begin at 9 a.m.
