Tonganoxie High forensics takes 9th at state

The Tonganoxie High forensics team gathers at the state tournament Saturday at Washburn Rural. The Tonganoxie High School forensics team placed ninth out of 29 teams this year.

Class 4A state took place Saturday at Washburn Rural High School, Topeka.

Tonganoxie’s seven semifinalists included Abby Vick, Serious Solo; Josey Bartlett and Taylor Brents, Duet; Gabriel Altenhofen, Informative; Graham Foley, Informative; Eric Bieser, Prose; and Cayden Hunter in Extemp. Cayden Hunter placed fourth in Informative finals.

At state festival, forensics had nine performers. Earning 1 Ratings were Addie Dean and Ella Pruitt in Informative, Tye Baldwin in Serious Solo, Kizer Morando in Extemp, and Joshua Duvall in Prose. Earning 2 Ratings were Faith Morgan in Serious Solo and Charlotte Absher and Heather Leeper in Informative.

Gavin Garner earned a 3 Rating in Impromptu.

McPherson won this year’s state title with 388 points.

Tonganoxie finished with 168. McPherson also won the overall state title in 2022.
