The Tonganoxie area is under a tornado watch until this evening.

McLouth and Lawrence are included in a tornado watch until 7 p.m. Saturday, while Tonganoxie is in a watch until midnight Sunday.

That’s because Jefferson and Douglas counties are part of a watch that concludes earlier than Leavenworth County’s watch. Other counties with Leavenworth County in northeast Kansas are Atchison, Doniphan and Wyandotte counties. That watch originally was in effect until 9 p.m., but the National Weather Service extended the watch until midnight Sunday just before 5 p.m.

The area also is in flood watches until Sunday. The large watch that includes Douglas and Jefferson counties concludes at 10 a.m. Sunday, while the watch that includes Leavenworth County concludes at 1 p.m.
