Tongie Split Ice Cream Social is set for Sunday

A new mural greets visitors who enter the Tonganoxie Recreation Commission Activity Center gymnasium through its main downstairs entrance. TRC expanded its hours of operations a couple weeks ago and staff look to continue to add more offerings.Tonganoxie Recreation Commission is gearing up for its annual ice cream social, but this year it will have a sweet twist.
TRC’s traditional ice cream social will celebrate the famed Tongie Split weather phenomenon with bananas and other split toppings to add to the complimentary ice cream. The ice cream social will be 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday at Chieftain Park on North Main Street.
Tonganoxie Community Historical Society volunteers will assist TRC in serving ice cream.
