Leavenworth woman who stabbed man outside bar sentenced to prison
A 24-year-old Leavenworth woman who stabbed a man outside of the Pour Decisions bar near downtown Leavenworth has been sentenced to prison.
Kami Housworth, who previously pleaded no contest to attempted aggravated battery, was sentenced to 3 years in the Kansas Department of Corrections on Wednesday, May 8.
On Sept. 17, 2023, at around 1 a.m., Housworth was outside the bar near 2000 Dakota St. when multiple witnesses saw her arguing with a man, later identified as Thomas A. Will-Arguelles, in the parking lot. While employees and some patrons of the bar were attempting to get Housworth and Will-Arguelles to leave, Housworth used a knife and stabbed one of the patrons from behind. Housworth and Will-Arguelles fled the area following the stabbing, but law enforcement later found the couple and arrested them.
On April 19, 2024, Will-Arguelles pleaded no contest to Battery; he’s scheduled to be sentenced May 22.
“I always cherish those that come to the aid of strangers,” Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson said. “Unfortunately, this good deed did not go unpunished.
“Even with the harm that occurred, our victim wanted to show compassion.”
