Lansing inmate dies Wednesday at hospital

A Lansing Correctional Facility resident died Wednesday morning.
Angel Pedro Lara, 25, was found ill inside the facility clinic Tuesday afternoon, according to a release from the Kansas Department of Corrections. Staff and emergency medical service personnel administered life-saving measures and transported Lara to a local hospital where he eventually died. The cause of death is pending the results of an independent autopsy.
Per protocol, when a resident dies in the custody of the Kansas Department of Corrections, the death is under investigation by the KDOC and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
Lara was serving a 123-month sentence for convictions of second-degree murder in Sedgwick County.
