The Leavenworth County Justice Center at 601 S. Third St., Leavenworth

The Leavenworth County Attorney’s office, in conjunction with Kansas Legal Services, will be presenting another expungement clinic for the county.

It will be between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Dec. 12-16. To apply, call 800-723-6953. If you have questions please contact Joy Springfield, from Kansas Legal Services, at 785-246-9523. There are very specific requirements necessary to have one’s crime expunged.

The Leavenworth County Attorney’s office will only review to see if a case is statutorily approved for an expungement. If you are interested in volunteering or helping with this project please also call the number above.

“Expungements open the door for people to get better jobs, housing and educational opportunities,” said Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson. “Although people who qualify have to have stayed out of trouble for a significant period of time and paid off all costs due in owing.

“Also, there are certain very serious crimes that are never expungeable. We do want to help those who have shown they have moved on from their past get better opportunities for themselves and their families.”
