A two-vehicle accident Thursday between Tonganoxie and Basehor involved extrication from a vehicle.
The accident occurred about 3:35 p.m. Thursday near 178th Street and State Avenue, according to a report from the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s office.
A 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by a 17-year-old rural Leavenworth girl was headed north on 178th Street when the driver failed to stop, according to reports.
A 2009 Ford F-150 truck driven by a 16-year-old rural Tonganoxie boy was headed east on State Avenue. The truck hit the driver’s side of the Grand Prix in the southern most lane of State Avenue. The rural Leavenworth girl had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was taken to University of Kansas hospital, as was a passenger, a 21-year-old man who was a family member from the same residence, reports said.
The driver of the truck refused medical treatment on the scene, but his mother said she was going to take him to Children’s Mercy Hospital for evaluation, according to the report.
The driver of the car sustained serious injuries in the accident, the report said.
